| Dear Parent or Guardian, Welcome all new
and returning swimmers to the WWRX SUMMER 2007 season. Before
we begin practice there are some things that we, the coaches,
would like to share with you to help us all have an enjoyable
and successful season.
To begin, on behalf of the coaches,
congratulations winter swimmers on an outstanding season.
(Division One Junior
Championship Title and
2n d place at
the CCWSL Championship meet out of 15 teams)
Hopefully we can continue this
high level of success this season and make our team even
stronger and more cohesive. We all look forward to the
challenge.Practice groups will be assigned for all kids based on their
past commitments and abilities. Since we are assigning groups
prior to registration there may need to be changes. As coaches,
we try to keep a manageable number of kids in the groups that we
feel will provide the greatest opportunity for learning to take
place. While we realize everyone has busy schedules we need your
help and cooperation making sure your kids not only come to
their assigned practice, but that they come on time and ready to
listen and learn.
As coaches, we would also strongly recommend that you take
some time to sit down with your child and discuss with them the
team rules and regulations that are listed in your handouts and
online (click here).
Also, we'd like to point out that swimming is sport where the
harder you work the better your chances for improvements.
Ultimately it will be your child's choice how hard they work and
how much they want to improve. We as coaches will do our best to
physically and mentally prepare the kids for competition.
However, once again, the kids will determine how much or how
little they will progress.
The summer season begins on Tuesday May 22,
2007, and ends in early August with a championship meet with 15
other towns. Along the way there are many opportunities for
your child to improve. Over the course of the season, there are
many things that we as coaches are hoping to see from our WWRX
swimmers along the way. First, we want to encourage swimmers to
come to all practices offered to their group. While at
practice and the meets we want all of the kids to simply try
their best in trying to improve. We want them to listen to
instruction and perform the skills or sets they are being asked
to do. We want the kids to be ready and willing to swim what
ever events that they are asked to swim. We hope that they will
be on time to practice and try everything we are doing rather
than sitting out or fussing. We hope that they will ask
questions when they do not understand. We hope that they will
be positive leaders both in and out of the pool. We hope that
all of them will be respectful and polite as they listen and
have fun participating in this great sport.
In closing we welcome all
WWRX swimmers and parents to a new season, a season hopefully
full of great swims, good times, and life long memories. Over
the course of the season if you have any questions, problems, or
concerns, at anytime, please do not hesitate to see your child’s
coach as soon as possible. We look forward to working with you
and your children.
Sincerely,
The Water Rat
